We just started to really get to work and we're all really excited to be filming soon. the logo is going good and the storyboard is great. Go get 'em!!!
So far, media lit. and computer lit. students have come up with a list of teachers that they think will have a great time being in the video. Here are the names of the teachers who said YES:
Mrs. Florenz Mr. Vance Mr. Benford Mr. Pope Mr. Bush Mr. Girard Mr. Miller Ms. Arruda Ms. Vitello Mrs. Pinkerton Mr. Check Ms. Berke Mr. Pearce Mrs. Aull Mr. Poirier Mrs. Perry
Walking around to every group, you see the developing ideas towards making the best "CCMS Pays it Forward" music video. You have the logo creators, story boarders, and us the bloggers. Coming up with the final creations, as this is the last day of CCMS Pays it Forward until filming. Keeping it going... #CCMSPAYSITFORWARD
We just started the project of "Pay it Forward" some people are thinking and drawing their logo designs, some are working on different concepts of the video, that's the creative team. And us, the bloggers. Everyone is just starting to work on their job and already getting great ideas. Everyone is so pumped up and excited about this project, its gonna make the school a bit more safer and positive place.
Today everyone got strait to work and between the logo creators, bloggers and creative team everyone is doing amazing work. This video is going to help people come together in a way that is just amazing. I should know I experienced it first hand. I lost my house to a fire and everything in it and I witnessed so many people come together in a way I never thought they would. Right here people are doing great things right in front of my eyes. I personally believe of everyone payed it forward then we would see great things happen. One act of kindness goes a long way.
This video is more than just having a project for us to do. It is about Paying It Forward, and what that means. Paying It Forward is about doing something nice for someone else, whether they need it or not. The video is about sharing the kindness. If you pay It Forward, you are going to make some ones day, or that second, or minute, or hour. Pay It Forward, guys!!
Recently, one of our classmates was faced with a terrible tragedy. Last week, Emily Jones and her family lost their home to a house fire. They were left with only the pajamas they were wearing the night of the fire. You never think it will happen that close to home until it actually does.
To start class, we read a letter to the editor that was printed in the Narragansett Times, which was beautifully written by a family friend of the Jones'. The letter is focused on the outpouring of support that this family received from our community. We reflected on the article and how it so greatly proves that "pay it forward" exists here in South Kingstown. We are constantly doing nice things for people around us without even thinking twice, and sometimes we don't even realize we are doing it.
If our community can band together in a time like this, there are surely ways that we can spread positivity on a smaller scale here at CCMS.
Today our "think, pair, share" was focused on ways that we can pay it forward in school. Here's what our Media Lit classes came up with:
Help someone study for a test Donate to a cause Give someone a hug Smile :) Take an extra set of notes for someone if they're absent Help a teacher Hold the door open for someone If someone drops their books, stop and help pick them up Let someone borrow a pencil Push in someones chair Pick up trash - anywhere! Help someone organize a binder Help someone buy lunch If someones locker is jammed, help them open it Stick up for someone who is being bullied Organize canned food drives Sit with someone who is alone at lunch Help someone up if they fall Say good morning, or just hello! Say please and thank you (use good manners in general) Say something NICE! Compliment someone DON'T JUDGE!!! - Be supportive Help carry someones books Help someone study Help someone understand classwork Include someone Bring in BoxTops Donate old books Donate tissues to classroom teachers Help someone take notes Bring someone homework if they are absent and help catch them up
These are some great ways that we can start to enhance our positive school climate.
My second set of classes finished up the movie today, which means more students were able to reflect on how they interpreted the phrase "pay it forward". Here's what they came up with:
Pay it forward means someone does an unexpected act of kindness, but it's something big and could change their life.
I think it means that you have the power to make a difference, it's just if you choose to actually do it.
To me, pay it forward means you do three good deeds; huge deeds that can change someone's life.. and the three people who were helped help three more people... and it becomes a movement and helps the world.
To pay it forward is to help three people out and then have them help three people out and so on. This project shows how one person can start something huge.
To keep a chain of good things going to make the world better.
To pay it forward means to get someone back on track even if it's hard for you.
To help someone else do something they can't do.
It means to keep helping other people to make something grow.
Pay it forward, to me, means that everyone can make a difference, even a person my age.
Today, two classes finished watching the movie Pay It Forward. The unexpected ending had many of us feeling emotional, but it also sparked a lot of thought and discussion. Once we finished the movie, I had students jot down what "pay it forward" means to them. They had a lot of great answers! Below are a few of my favorites:
Paying it forward means putting someone else's needs in front of your own.
To do a favor for more than one person and tell them to "pass it on".
Pay it forward means helping others when they really need it the most.
Pay it forward is a cycle that starts with you doing something nice to somebody else, and then they do something nice for three people, and the cycle keeps going.
Pay it forward is to do something nice to somebody, then they do something nice for three other people and so on.
Do something nice.
Help someone that can't help themselves.
Doing good to people. Be nice to people then they will be nice to other people and the cycle goes on and on.
Helping someone out with something and telling them to pass on the good deed.
Doing random acts of kindness for people around you.
I think it is when someone does a good deed for someone and then that person will do something good for someone else. Pay it forward means to do something for someone else, whether important or unimportant, big or small. The circle should just keep continuing.
Pass the good whenever you can.
I was very impressed with the thoughtful answers that my class shared and couldn't wait to share them on our blog. Stay tuned as our journey to spread kindness continues.
